This Is After all the seating and the interior is taken out. During this project I am planning to replace the floor pans. |
| This picture shows the floors of the driver and passenger side. The seat risers are still installed but will be removed soon. |
To get a better look at the structure I took off the paneling that is over the rear windows. This is the drivers side rear window. |
| This is a picture of the drivers side flooring. As your can see the floor is rusted through. |
This is a picture of the passenger side flooring, also rusted through |
With all the carpeting, seats, instrument panel, dash, and even the steering wheel removed, It is time to remove the rusted areas. Using a combination of an angle grinder and a miniture grinder i was able to remove what was needed
| Here is the drivers side floor. The rusted metal has been cut out and the only thing that remains is the floor support. The floor is cut from the firewall all the way back to the rear seat. |
This is a picture of the passenger side floor. Its is also cut out with only the floor support remaining. It is cut from the firewall to floor support. |
| This is the driver's side dash area. Usually there would be a dash, steering wheel, and gas pedal mounted here. |
This is the passengers side dash area. Usually there is the heating element, the dash, and the glove box installed here. |
| Now that everything is removed that is need to be it is time to add metal back in. To do so I decided to buy a hobart 140 MIG welder. In little time at all i was good enough to weld some floors in. |
| Check out the new floors!!! This is a picture of the new driver side floors welded in. |
Here is a picture of the new passenger side flooring. |
| Here is how the floors look all together. |
| There is a few other pieces that i welded on that you cannot see in these pictures. First I reinforced the floor supports. Then I replaced the steel that is between the floors and the wheel; And last I replaced the actual floors that you can see in the pictures. The only thing left is a rust preventive paint on the floors. |
